How to Read Your Speed Test Results

Your results show three numbers — download speed, upload speed (in Mbps), and latency (ping, in ms). Here's a quick reference:

  • Browsing / social media: 5–10 Mbps is smooth
  • Streaming video: 10–25 Mbps for HD, 25+ Mbps for 4K
  • Video calls: about 3–5 Mbps in each direction

Lower ping is better — it reflects how quickly your device and the server respond to each other. Under 100 ms usually feels instant; above 200 ms you may notice lag in real-time games or video calls.

What's a good internet speed (Mbps)?＋
For everyday browsing and social media, 5–10 Mbps is usually enough. HD video needs about 10–25 Mbps, and 4K video is best with 25 Mbps or more. Video calls (Zoom, FaceTime, etc.) typically need 3–5 Mbps in each direction. Most eSIM data plans easily meet these thresholds unless the local signal itself is weak.
Why does my speed test result change every time, even on the same phone and location?＋
Mobile network speed depends on cell tower load, how many people are using it nearby, signal strength, and even how busy the test server is at that moment — some variation is completely normal, not a sign the tool is inaccurate. Running the test a few times and averaging the results gives a more reliable picture than a single run.
Why might my eSIM speed test be slower than a local physical SIM when traveling abroad?＋
This is usually related to the "breakout IP" — some eSIM plans route your traffic through a server in another country before reaching the wider internet, rather than exiting directly in the country you're in. That extra hop can add latency and reduce download speed. You can check the "Breakout IP" field on a plan's detail page to see whether it exits locally.
Why is speed slower when I share my phone's hotspot to another device?＋
Sharing a hotspot adds an extra layer of Wi-Fi relaying and signal loss, and the number of connected devices plus Wi-Fi signal strength also affect the result — so speeds measured over a hotspot are usually a bit lower than testing directly on the phone's mobile connection. That's expected behavior.
